Book Trailer: Gail Carriger’s Curtsies & Conspiracies (oh my!)

Remember last weekend when I promised you, my good readers, to good news? Well here it is! Introducing a tasteful new book release that promises to be the height of fashion this season.

Introducing the music video/book trailer for Gail Carriger’s second new instalment to the Finishing School series: Curtsies & Conspiracies. From my previous reviews, you’ve learned by now about Carriger’s Parasol Protectorate series (which I’m still reading and I’m ashamed to admit I’ve yet to read book 3 as I’m waayy behind my to-read-and-review list). But now, I have another exciting book to add to that list, and I can’t wait to get my hands on it!!!

If you have yet to read the series, here’s a short summary. The first instalment, Etiquette & Espionage introduces Sophronia in her first year at Mademoiselle Geraldine’s Finishing Academy for Young Girl’s of Quality, but Finishing Academy isn’t at all what mummy thought it might be as young girl’s are trained to be spies (how astonishing!) From learning to curtsy to fending off flywaymen (men in flying machines who steal aboard dirigibles and wrecking havoc), Sophronia’s semester at Finishing Academy leads from one adventure to the next as she discovers new surprises, and in the second instalment conspiracies. Oh and did I forget to mention that the Academy is hosted in a flying dirigible? Wickedly fun!

In Curtsies & Conspiracies Sophronia returns to the Finishing Academy and the girls are on their way to London. But as Sophornia tip-toes around her dirigible school eavesdropping on her teachers and sneaking around corridors, she learns that a game’s afoot as a conspiracy is about to unfold (and in mid-air!) From parasols to poison and tea to treachery, something is amiss at school and Sophronia will get to the bottom of it (while learning how to properly curtsy of course).

Gail Carriger once again brings her wit, humour, and the latest fashion and steampunk in this second instalment of her four part Finishing School series, following her third book, Waistcoats & Weaponry (release date to be announced). Curtsies & Conspiracies will be released on November 5th.
