Top Ten 2015 Releases I Meant to get to but didn’t:

Top Tuesday banner

Top Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by the Broke and the Bookish and this week’s topic is releases that I meant to get to in 2015 but didn’t. 2015 is long gone and many of us are already prepping for the new releases that are coming out this year. But if you are a mood reader like I am, then you might have missed out on new books that came out last year but never meant to get to. Many of the 2015 releases that I meant to read I didn’t get to because of all the hype and excitement prior to and after the book’s release. With those kinds of books I like to wait a few months later before reading so that the hype doesn’t affect my judgment while reading the book. I also notice that with ongoing series there is a new trend where sequels are becoming thicker, which brings another problem: the time to sit and read the whole damn thing.

a court of thorns and roses

A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J Maas

I haven’t bought this book yet and I’m planning on borrowing at the library because I’ve heard mixed reviews about this one. There was so much hype going around this one that I couldn’t read it the same time everyone else, so I decided to put it under my “to read later” list.

I don’t have a reason for not getting to this one last year. I guess I wasn’t interested at that time. I’ll probably pick it up at the library one day when I’m in the mood.

The Invasion of the Tearling by Erika Johansen

I bought this sequel, read a chapter, and then I put it down aside somewhere and never picked it up. Unfortunately, this is the symptom of a reading slump, which is why I never got around to reading the book, but I’m going to try it again this year.

modern romance

Modern Romance by Aziz Ansari

I need to start reading non-fiction more often, and I loved watching Aziz Ansari in Parks and Recreation, one of my all time favorite comedy shows. When I heard that he wrote a book about how we find romance nowadays, I decided to give it a shot and make this my first non-fiction read for this year.

I meant to buy this book last Christmas but changed my mind because I knew that I had too many books that I wanted to read this January, so I told myself I’ll buy it when I want to read it.

Another sequel that I bought and meant to read but I ended up abandoning it instead. Ooops!

You have no idea how long I had to wait on the list to finally get a copy from the library, and when it was finally my turn, I was so excited to start reading it! But when I picked it up, I noticed how thick it was and I thought to myself “I’m never going to finish this in a month” I was also working at the time. The sad part is, I didn’t even start it, I just put it down on my table and never picked it up because…because…well I can’t remember the reason. All I know is that I needed more time to read this book so I decided to borrow it again when I had more time reading this humongous thing.

Another book I bought and I plan on reading this January for sure.

Shadow Scale

Shadow Scale by Rachel Hartman

The strange thing is that after reading Seraphina (which I thought was alright) I was in no hurry to read the sequel when I got it for my birthday.

red queen

Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard

I’ve put this book way down in my TBR list after reading the mixed reviews on Goodreads. This is definitely one of those love it or hate it books and I wasn’t planning on spending my money on it because everyone who’s read it, kept saying that it was something they read before, so I’m borrowing a copy from the library just to be safe, and I am in no hurry to read it either. In fact, this is one of those books that I’m probably not going to read for a long time.
