Top Books that will Make you Laugh (or at least chuckle):

It’s so nice to do another Top Tuesday again! It’s been over a month since I last did the Top Tuesday that it feels like a huge relief to be back. I’m sorry I haven’t been very active on my blog. I was backtracked with reviews because of a long blogging slump that it was hard to return to my normal schedule again.

Top Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by the Broke and the Bookish and this week’s topic is books that made me laugh or chuckle or smirked or made me laugh out loud while rolling around the carpet. Ok so maybe that last one never happened to me while reading but you get the point. Whether you’re looking for something funny to read or you need to cheer up after a bad day, here are some recommendations for you that are worth reading just so you can have a good laugh!

1. The Rosie Project by Greame Simsion:

One of the funniest books I’ve ever read! The main character Don Tillman is the best character in the story. His cluelessness and social awkwardness makes his character hilarious and charming. Don reminded me of Sheldon from The Big Bang Theory which made me curious if Greame based his character from him? A delightful rom com story that will put you in a good mood!

2. Me and Early and the Dying Girl by Jesse Andrews:

Speaking of awkwardness, here is a story about two awkward high school boys who team up to make films together and the narrator, Greg, meets a girl with Leukemia. I remember reading the very first line in chapter one and immediately I was sold to buying the book! I absolutely loved the story; it made me laugh, smile, and cry as Greg’s sardonic tone adds to his character as I was reminded about my years in high school. This book will totally take you back to when you were in high school with some laughs about Greg’s most awkward and charming high school moments.

3. Soulless by Gail Carriger:

This is the first book in a series with a different sense of humor. It’s not laugh out loud funny but the story is set in Victoria Era, London where ladies wear gowns and carry a parasol, gentlemen wear dinner jackets and top hats, vampires wear the latest (and trendiest) of clothing and accessories, and werewolves wear gentleman clothing. As you can tell already, this series is a mix of the paranormal and the supernatural, but the colorful cast of characters and their quirky personalities add to the light humor. This series won’t make you laugh out loud, but it will make you chuckle in the right parts.

4. Exquisite Corpse by Penelope Bagieu:

If you’re looking for a fast and funny read than I highly recommend this graphic novel. A story about a twenty something year old with a dead end job, meets a writer who is hiding from the public to write the next great novel. It’s really short but full of light chuckles and the ending includes a surprising twist that totally serves justice for the male lead.

What books have you read that made you laugh? I like to know!

  1. I loved Soulless– I did laugh out loud as some of the lines, especially ones involving Ivy’s hats. I can’t believe I didn’t think about it to put on my TTT. Gail Carriger is hilarious. Great list!
