Did anyone else feel like October went by pretty quick? Thanksgiving and Halloween are now over and the next BIG holiday is just around the corner. And with this holiday comes the time to start thinking about gift giving. For those of you who like to plan ahead and stay away from the chaos inside the malls in December, here is a list of November new releases that you could add to your list or if you’re looking for something comforting to read this winter.
1. The Toll by Neal Shusterman (release date: November 5 2019)
I am very excited to see how this trilogy ends. The first two books surpassed my expectations and I am very impressed with how the story and the characters are developing. This is the conclusion set in the world where Scythes exist inside a utopian like city so that death continues to happen. The sequel was a plot twister so I’m looking forward to how it all ends.
2. Sisters of Shadow and Light by Sara B. Larson (release date: November 5 2019)
Two sisters grow up together inside a citadel. Imprisoned and trapped with a large hedge surrounding the citadel, they have little contact with the outside world until a stranger arrives and passes through the hedge. This sounds like it could be a Repunzel inspired story!
3. Unnatural Magic by C.M. Waggoner (release date: November 5 2019)
On Goodreads this is tagged as young adult but I think this is an adult fiction. Either way the synopsis sounds like fun. Follow Onna who can write spells faster than any man in her village but is denied entry into the arcane academy. But then another door opens and she finds her way into a university…and finds out four trolls were mysteriously murdered too. Both she and a troll begin using their talents to find out who is targeting trolls before their homeland is torn apart.
4. The Starless Sea by Erin Morgenstern (release date: November 5 2019)
It was many years ago when I read her first book The Night Circus. And now years, later her second book is coming out this month! This book is blurbed as a timeless love story set in the secret underground world when Zachery Ezra Rawlins discovers a mysterious book with tales of pirates, key collectors, and a story of his own childhood. As he travels in the underground, Zachery begins to learn about his purpose in this story and in his personal life.
5. A Constellation of Roses by Miranda Asebedo (release date: November 5 2019)
A story about a girl with near magical powers walks out on her own until she is caught and is given a choice: jail time or go live with her long lost family. A companion to The Deepest Roots, fans and readers will have fun reading these lovable and flawed characters in a magical realist setting.
6. Queen of the Conquered by Kacen Callender (release date: November 12 2019)
This story has three things to make you want to read it: 1. The main character is a young woman with the power to control minds 2. She seeks vengeance against the royal family responsible for murdering her parents and 3. This is a Caribbean inspired fantasy!
7. Winterwood by Shea Ernshaw (release date: November 5 2019)
From the author who wrote The Wicked Deep comes a new haunting romance that will delight young adult fantasy readers. Set in a magical snow covered forest is a witch that knows the truth about the disappearance of a boy who is supposedly dead until he survived inside the enchanted forest. Find out why in this new debut! Perfect for this time of year.
